Genetic Bomb

Andrew J. Offutt and D. Bruce Berry's Genetic Bomb is the story of a futuristic space-pimp called Wesley Harmon, quickly entangled in a centuries deep metaphysical mouse-trap. By the end of the book he's woo-ed a lesbian. One character's name is Roland Balearic. I shit you not. Alternately confusing and softcore, Genetic Bomb strikes a chord that could best be describe as Season 2 Star Trek with a weed boner.

Jamie Livingston's Photo of The Day

Between March, '79 and October, '97, photographer, film-maker and circus performer Jamie Livingston shot a Polaroid each day of his life. Altogether there are 6,697 photos - some have been lost or misplaced through the years. The collection does the web rounds every six months or so (take a look at Chris Higgins' post on Mental Floss as a cross-reference), for reasons obvious. At the end of his life Livingston tangled with cancer, documented in detail - while a life cut short is a terrible thing, Livingston seems to have (inadvertently?) finagled his way into a new life e-ternal, celebrated by total strangers sharing his life with more people than I'm sure he could have imagined would ever see his photos.

A Bandit of Time

My friend Alexandre at C'est Quoi Ta Montre got in touch with me for his ongoing Style Files series. Alexander said my white strap was very cool/badass. Along with my responses I put together a little mix of just what I've been listening to of late, callled A Bandit of Time. It doesn't have Time Bandits on it though. Just a heads up.

Borde 2 Def

How cool is it that this cat Olivier Borde just has a dot-blogspot for his site? With mentions from T Style, Fantastic Man and more, I guess this guy is kind of like the new Kim Jones, but French, and less ravey.
